What's Actually Blocking You From Changing

The block is specific. And once you can name it, it is already less powerful.

You want to change. You have tried. But something keeps pulling you back.

It is not laziness. It is not weakness. There is a real reason. This is about finding it.

Read through. Notice which one makes you feel seen in a way you did not ask to be. That one is probably yours.

Five blocks

The Imposter

You achieve. People around you can see it. But you have never quite caught up to the picture they have of you. and you are always half-waiting for the moment they realise.

This is not a confidence problem. It is an identity problem. Your sense of yourself has not yet grown to include the evidence of who you are. That gap is real, and it is workable.

You are not pretending. You are just still learning to see yourself clearly. That takes longer for some people. often the most honest ones.

The People Pleaser

Your confidence lives outside of you. It is held by what the people around you think, feel, and say. When they approve, you feel okay. When they do not, you lose the floor.

This started somewhere. In most cases, love was conditional early on. available when you made others happy, withdrawn when you did not. You learned: keep them happy, stay safe. It was not a bad strategy then.

The fact that you care so much about others is not your flaw. It is one of your best things. The work is just making a little more room for yourself inside that caring.

The Perfectionist

You wait until it is ready. Until it is right. Until you cannot find anything more to improve. But the goalposts keep moving, and somehow ready never quite arrives.

Perfectionism is not about high standards. It is about fear. If I do not put it out there, it cannot fail. If I keep improving it, I cannot be rejected. The standard is a shield.

The care you put into things is real. The part that keeps you stuck is just the fear underneath. and that is separate from the quality of what you make.

The Invisible One

Being seen feels like a risk. Not a calculated one. just a physical sense that attention is dangerous. Staying small is not comfortable, but it is familiar.

At some point, visibility cost you something. Maybe it drew the wrong kind of attention. Maybe it was safer to disappear. Your nervous system learned: small is safe. It is still running that programme.

This is not a flaw. It is a protection. It worked. The question now is only whether you still need it. and that is something you get to decide at your own pace.

The One Who Is Almost Ready

You have been meaning to start. You have made the plan more than once. But something always comes up. the timing is not right, the kids need something, you need to feel more settled first.

This is not laziness or lack of commitment. It is a loop. The conditions for starting never quite arrive because the starting itself is what your nervous system is trying to avoid.

The conditions will never be perfect. The start does not require them to be. Small is real. Ready is a feeling, not a fact.

You are not blocked because you are weak. You are blocked because part of you is protecting you. from failure, from rejection, from being seen, from starting something that might not work.

Naming the block does not make it disappear. But it makes it visible. And visible things you can work with.

You are not blocked because you're weak. You're blocked because part of you is protecting you.

You can thank that part. and then take the wheel yourself.

What do you keep almost doing, then pulling back from?

With love, Kitija 🤍
