Kitija Ozolina · Awareness Mentor for Mothers
Some days the house is loud, your mind is racing, and you have nothing left. Here are five things that help me when I am there.
None of these take more than two minutes. You don't have to believe they will help. Just try one.
You don't need a quiet house. You don't need a free hour. You just need one minute and the willingness to try.
After you've raised your voice and feel the guilt coming in — before you go back into the room.
Inhale slowly through your nose. Exhale through your mouth, longer than the inhale. Three to five times. Slow, not deep.
Inhale 4 · Exhale 8
After tidying up for the fifth time today. When your body feels tight and you don't know why.
Let your shoulders drop. Unclench your jaw. Let your tongue rest softly. That's it. Just let go a little.
When the noise — kids, TV, phone — is too much and you feel like you've lost the thread of yourself.
Notice 3 things you can see. 2 you can feel. 1 you can hear. Don't change anything. Just notice.
When your mind is running lists and you don't know where to start.
Ask yourself one question: what is the next small thing? Not everything. Just the next one thing.
When you're pushing through on empty and you can't stop.
Say it quietly: "I don't have to solve everything right now." Let your body soften when you say it.
You don't have to do them perfectly for them to help. Even a small pause can make a difference.
You just did something kind for yourself. It might have felt small — a breath, a pause, a moment of noticing. But that is how it starts. Not with big changes. With honest little moments like this one.
Small. Honest. Again tomorrow. That is enough.
With love, Kitija 🤍
